Our Story
Our Purpose
We are a grassroots group of young professionals who created the Level U program to train black youth to develop the core, essential career skills needed to succeed in finding jobs and excelling in their careers.
Who We Help
We want to train black youth to develop important career skills which include, but are not limited to, the following: networking, persuasion, self-awareness, negotiation, public speaking, email etiquette, and so much more. These are the career skills that will benefit anyone in their careers, regardless of what field they choose to go into.
Our End Goal
Through a combination of workshops, retreats, and ongoing mentorship our end goal is to equip black youth and grant them the confidence to find or create meaningful employment.
Program Details
The Level U program will consist of a series of workshops, mentoring, and 1-day retreats to deliver training on a number of critical career skills. The end goal is to enable youth to create employment opportunities and/or business opportunities for themselves.
1. Mentorship
Each participant will be paired with a mentor for 1 on 1 coaching and there will also be group coaching.2. Workshops
Workshops will take place regularly throughout the year and will cover numerous career skills and homework assignments.3. Retreats
There will be 1-day retreats outside of Ottawa where participants can review and do a deep-dive into the content they learned up until then.4. Gala
Once a year the participants are invited to a gala to celebrate their success, network with others, and enjoy good food.
We're really proud of the initiative of this team. Our sons and daughters can take part in Level U's career skills program and set themselves up the right way for the future.
